A statewide award and some special invitations!

Superintendent's Section

We’re taking over Dr. Prince’s section this week because we have exciting news to share!

Last spring, Dr. Erin Prince was honored by the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) with the Region 114 Award of Merit for her outstanding leadership and service to students. We’re proud to share that she went on to receive the statewide WASA Leadership Award, which recognizes exemplary contributions to public education through exceptional leadership and commitment.

Congratulations, Dr. Prince! Your leadership continues to make a difference for our students, staff, families, and community!

Community Listening Session: You're Invited

Many of you have shared that you'd like more opportunities to see and talk with our school board directors outside of board meetings. They heard you! Our board directors will be scheduling a series of community listening sessions. These sessions are casual, drop-in opportunities for families and community members to connect and share your thoughts.

The first one has been scheduled! You’re invited to join them on Wednesday, November 12, 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the Silverdale Center (3650 NW Anderson Hill Rd., Silverdale) in the Rainier Conference Room (2nd floor).

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to stop by. Our school board directors look forward to seeing you!

Strategic Goals Update Process

This year marks the third year of our three-year strategic plan. We’re seeing the impact of that work, and we’re proud of the progress we’ve made. Now it’s time to look ahead. One of our focus areas this year will be updating our goals for 2026-2029—and we want to hear from YOU!

Please join us on Thursday, November 13, 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Barker Creek Community School (adjacent to our Teaching & Learning Center, 1400 NE McWilliams Rd, Bremerton). You'll have the chance to share your thoughts and suggestions on our goals and actions and to define what's most important to you.

Just like when we developed our current plan, we’re committed to gathering broad input to ensure that our updated goals continue to clearly reflect the voices of our students, staff, families, and community for years 4-6.

If you're not able to join us, you'll have the chance to share your thoughts online. Please watch for our survey, which will open next month. We look forward to seeing you or hearing from you!

Parent Tech Tips

ParentSquare is rolling out a new way to send text messages: instead of using a 5-digit short code, most messages will now come from 10-digit local phone numbers. This change will help messages feel more personal and stay better organized in your text messaging app.
A screen shot of text messages on a cell phone screen. On the left, it shows a 5-digit number with a sample text message. On the right, it shows the same text message coming from a 10-digit phone number.
No action needed—just keep an eye out for those first-time messages!
You will get a short message the first time each number is used to help you save it in your contacts.
